I am happy to feature another "Healing Angel" in this post. As you may know, I have been featuring a number of individuals who have endeavored on their own personal journey of healing; people who have become empowered in the process of their own healing, and are now helping others to achieve the same goals. I call them "Healing Angels" and I am happy to introduce you to JoAnn Jarvis of Syracuse, NY.



My name is JoAnn Jarvis. I am an RN, a Reiki Master, and hold Diplomas in Homeopathy (DiHom) and Homeopathic Medicine (DHM) from the British Institute of Homeopathy. My journey into the world of Alternative/Complementary Medicine began early and was born out of necessity. From infancy, I was severely afflicted with allergies, did the normal “conventional” allergy treatments, but grew increasingly worse with time. After the birth of my first child, I ventured into the world of Alternative Medicine because the commonly used ways of treating my allergies were ineffective. In my mid twenties I began a Macrobiotic diet, but my life was still severely restricted due to my poor health. I “found” Homeopathy in January of 1991, and have never enjoyed better health or energy! Most of my allergies melted away over time as my total health grew unbelievably strong. Now I have to remind myself that I actually lived through all those severe symptoms and had a very restricted life. However, even with the use of Homeopathy, I did not throw out my practice of keeping an environmentally “clean” home and I did not throw out my practice of eating clean whole, live, organic foods. All of these things are important and work together. As the great founder of Homeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, once said, avoidance to obstacles of cure is very important and cannot be neglected.

My world took a drastic turn on January 15, 2000, when my car was struck from behind while en route to a patient's home as a visiting nurse. I sustained a bad neck injury as well as a traumatic brain injury (TBI). In addition, I had intense fear for a very long time and was diagnosed with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). My journey from the world of TBI and PTSD and back into wholeness and health took many years and was accomplished with Homeopathy, Reiki and Prayer-- all of these --Energy Medicine. I had the benefit of years of intense focus and prayer from a Native American Indian who worked closely with me, using his traditional shamanic Native American ways. How I met him and the ways he got me through that time was nothing less than miraculous. My chiropractor took care of my neck injuries and provided me with an incredible amount of emotional support and understanding through this very long and difficult time. My antagonist and greatest obstacle to health was my employer’s disability insurance company who was relentless with its harassment.

I wrote a book on my story and experiences. I give an insider’s view of living with a traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder and I give information on how to live with and help someone who has a TBI. My book is entitled: Brain Jolt: A Life Renewed After Traumatic Brain Injury. There are 2 editions. My first edition -- my story -- is available through www.lulu.com .
